"Kacike" is deliberately spelled in this manner, rather than as "cacique" according to Spanish colonial chroniclers, as a means of signifying a bridge between past and present, using an antique term yet reflecting contemporary re-spellings of the term by communities and movements engaged in cultural resurgence.

All photographs, illustrations and artwork on the site are property of KACIKE and may not be reproduced without permission.

Authors retain copyright and that their articles may thus be revised and republished by an author subsequent to publication in KACIKE. Publication in KACIKE may be considered, therefore, as a "preprint" or as a final print. Once an article is published in KACIKE, it will not be withdrawn from the Journal. Reprints of articles that were first published in KACIKE must provide appropriate credit to KACIKE and reference the original place of publication.
